"Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles."
-- Acts 1:26
The man or woman who agrees to serve on a vestry takes on a job that, to be well done, must claim priority in time and energy. It cannot be just ‘one more committee.’ But if it is given the time it requires and if it is grounded in prayer and a spirit of discipleship, it can change your life.
From The Vestry Handbook by Christopher L. Webber
Members of the nominating committee ask for your suggestions for parishioners you feel should be considered as nominees for election to the Vestry of St. James Episcopal Church. The committee will gather names until November 6, 2017, and meet with prospective nominees thereafter. Election of new Vestry members will occur at the Annual Parish Meeting on January 21, 2018.
In making your suggestions, please consider these qualities of a vestry member set forth by the Vestry of St. James:
A vestry member should be at least 18 years old, a confirmed member of record of St. James Parish for a minimum of two years, faithful and consistent in attendance at worship services, generous in giving and growing in personal stewardship, furthering personal spiritual growth, regular in attendance at meetings of the Vestry, serving on one or more committees or ministries of the church and/or the vestry, participating in the annual stewardship drive each year, abiding by and supporting vestry decisions in a positive way, attending church-sponsored events and programs.
Please provide the name of the person you recommend as a possible nominee and any supporting comments you would like to include. If you provide your name and email in the bottom boxes, a copy of your message will be sent to the email address provided.
