Master Plan Draft Presentation

Posted on Sun, May 01, 2016 at 12:21:00 pm

Our consultants will present the first draft “conceptual plan” based on our first round of surveys and meetings, and we want your feedback!

This is the final opportunity for St. James Day School families and parishioners weigh in on the design before the final plans are drawn. Come get a sneak peek at the drawings and let us know what you think!

The Campus Master Plan was identified as a goal in St. James’ recent Strategic Plan.

March Charrette

Posted on Fri, March 25, 2016 at 6:00:00 am

Thank you to those who participated in this week's campus master plan design charrette!

Sixty-nine people attended the town hall meeting on Monday; over 40 stopped by to share their ideas with the design team Monday through Wednesday; and, 144 filled out surveys. In addition, over 384 individual comments were collected. Your ideas will help shape the physical plan for how our campus functions and grows in the future.

If you were unable to make it to the meetings this week, you may click here to view the presentation materials.

If you have not done so already, you may also fill out the short survey here until Friday, March 25 at 5:00 p.m.

Consultants will share the resulting draft campus master plan on Wednesday, May 10. The final plan will not be complete until August, so please continue to stay involved and give your feedback.

FYI - The campus master plan is one of the projects identified in the St. James 2015 Vision and Strategic Plan. If you are interested in reviewing the Vision and Strategic Plan, first posted and shared on August 20, 2015, please click here.

Good News 2020

Posted on Thu, November 12, 2015 at 11:25:00 am

A Message from the Mission & Vision Steering Committee

Good News 2020:  St. James Episcopal Church Strategic Plan for Its Ministry

How do we know when we get there? First, we start with a good plan.

Organizations, communities and even families constantly evolve over time, requiring periodic “check-in” and planning. A good road map assures the journey/change is productive and getting everyone closer to destinations or aspirations. Last summer, the Vestry appointed the Mission & Vision Steering Committee to be responsible for overseeing implementation of St. James’ strategic plan which has been named Good News 2020. In addition to the current Sr. Warden, Jr. Warden, and Rector serving as members of the committee, six at-large members have been appointed for three year terms. The complete committee includes Lolly Martin, Chair, Lee Griffin, Catherine Harrell, Kaki Heiligenthal, Mark Holland, Andy McCall, Dan West, and Shirley Young.

The group has been busy these past few months organizing and mapping out the best approach for this task. Using feedback from the recent parish survey as well as the Vestry, the group and its many volunteer parishioners are now underway in launching implementation of Good News 2020!

  • The committee’s first order of business was to develop a committee charter that defines and commits the group to three key purposes:
    • Develop a framework to implement the strategic plan
    • Recruit, orient, and train leadership for implementation
    • Monitor and report progress to all stakeholders in a timely manner
  • Based on these guidelines, the committee has recruited lay leaders for most of the Goals in Good News 2020 and is now in varying stages of orientation, planning, and action for each Goal. For example, the Welcome Committee which was one of the first groups to form is visible at Sunday services and is already accomplishing many of its early goals.
  • The committee will be submitting a detailed progress report to the Vestry at the November 16th meeting and will continue to report monthly at each Vestry meeting. All will be available to the parish via our church web site. Volunteers are always welcome to join this newest St. James effort.

“We’ve had enthusiastic response from St. James Church for this strategic plan journey and the momentum is beginning to build. Families love our Church and want to see it thrive,” reports Committee Chair Lolly Martin.

Strategic Plan - Final!

VESTRY REPORT AND STRATEGIC PLAN 3.0 - FINAL!

Dear Friends:

During the strategic planning process, the need for better communications from the vestry to our parishioners became obvious to us.

Therefore, we have committed to insure the vestry minutes will be available to you following each vestry meeting. The report of the August 10 meeting is available here. The final, approved version of the Strategic Plan, is available here

In the future, a link to the minutes will be included in the Friday eMessenger following the monthly vestry meeting.

We hope you will find this communications effort of interest and value to you. And, as always, we ask you to contact either Mark+, Lee or any vestry member should you have ideas to pass along and/or questions about vestry issues.

Yours in Christ,

Lee Griffin
Senior Warden

The Very Rev. J. Mark Holland
Rector
