What is confirmation?
The book of Common Prayer defines confirmation as “the rite in which we express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop.” A simpler definition is that confirmation is a public reaffirmation of the baptismal vows. In the past, confirmation was required by the Church to complete baptism. However, that outlook has changed, and all members who are baptized are considered full members of the Church. Confirmation is a very personal journey and exploration of faith.
The program being used at St. James is from the Book of Common Prayer in the Catechism. This program will outline the foundation of our faith. We will go through the following topics, 10 commandments (2 sessions), Sacraments (2 sessions), Trinity/creeds (2 sessions), Prayer & worship (1 session), and Sin & redemption (1 session.) The class will be taught by different priests and members of the St. James Community.

We had a great fall and end to 2016 in the EYC! We kicked off the semester with a pool party. In Sunday School, we learned about our call from God, where we are being led, and how to use our gifts and talents to follow His purpose for our lives. We had a great time serving with The LOT Project in downtown and having our first fun Friday hangout! We ended the semester with a fun Christmas party-filled with games and sweets. Can't wait to see what 2017 has in store for the EYC!
