There is always a way to share with the world, even when you’re sheltering-in-place! The following list helps you help others by contributing your talents or gifts with local or Episcopal charities. If you have an organization that you believe should be included in the future, please email Lluvia Peveto, Communications Director.
Parishioner In-Need Assistance: The governor’s stay-at-home mandate allows individuals to help one another by running to the store or grab food for those that are unable to go out or shouldn’t. If you would like to lend a helping hand, please email Mary Boutwell to be added to the volunteer list.
Writing Letters: Boost the spirits of St. James Place residents with letters that will be sure to keep their spirits up through the period of quarantine.
Discretionary Fund: Some St. James parishioners have lost their jobs or have been put on leave. This time puts a strain on many families. A gift can be given to the Discretionary Fund to help those within the St. James family that may be affected by the current situation.
Baton Rouge Area Food Bank: There are opportunities to help directly or give to the Baton Rouge Area Food Bank as the needs for food within the community grows. The Food Bank is continuing distributions, but following new guidelines with fewer volunteers. Click HERE to learn how you can help.
Hospitals: Many of the local hospitals are in need of blood, supplies, and funds. Each hospital has listed their own unique needs. Here are the links to each to find out how you can help.
St. Vincent de Paul & The One Stop: Although most of the services offered by One Stop are suspended, food is still being served to the homeless population of Baton Rouge. Click HERE to learn how you can give to help support this ministry.
Episcopal Relief & Development: This national Episcopal organization will provide assistance by working directly with dioceses and churches in some of the hardest hit areas of the country. Click HERE to learn how you can give to help support this ministry.
