Children & Family Ministries
St. James is home to families of all shapes and sizes, with children of all ages. We strive to provide a dynamic and transformative spiritual experience for our youngest members and their families. Detailed below are the various opportunities available for family ministry formation and fellowship.
Sunday School programming is designed to spark a love for Bible-based learning for young members (PreK-5th grade). Using art, drama, music, digital media, bible trivia, games, videos, and science, students interact with scripture in two to four different ways. Youth are also invited to serve as class helpers. The Sunday School begins mid-September and runs through May.
Children’s Chapel is an opportunity for children to experience regular worship practices at an age-appropriate level. During the main Sunday morning service, and following the Collect of the Day, children are invited to participate in chapel by gathering at the back of the church. They return in time for communion with their families. The service, designed for children third grade and under, includes prayers, a Gospel lesson, and activity. The St. James nursery is made available to children (infant–age 4) on Sundays, beginning thirty minutes prior to the main service until noon. For Holy Days and events, the nursery is also open to families who desire it. The nursery is professionally staffed with eight caregivers, all having completed national church safety certification and training. We are also on the lookout for a few new nursery workers.
