Confirmation is the sacrament by which a candidate expresses a mature commitment of faith in Christ, and receives strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and the laying on of hands by a bishop. For those that have been confirmed in another denomination, then those individuals can be Received into the Episcopal Church. Each year Episcopal 101 and Youth Confirmation classes are scheduled in preparation for the Bishop’s visit. Please contact Monica Dugas by emailing or contact a member of the clergy.

During the Lenten season, St. James will offer classes for both youth and adults who wish to be formally confirmed or received into The Episcopal Church. Confirmation is the sacramental rite in which candidates “express a mature commitment to Christ” before the bishop and congregation. For youth, confirmation is available to those in 8th grade or beyond. Youth and parents of youth may contact Haley Schroeck ( to sign up or with further questions.
A separate class will run throughout the season of Lent for adults who desire to be confirmed or received. While confirmation is held out to those who have not yet made a public commitment to Christ in the church, reception is for those who have already been confirmed in another Christian tradition. Contact Fr. Drew Harmon ( to sign up or with further questions.
