The mission of St. James Episcopal Church's Social Outreach Grants is to dedicate those funds that represent our tithe to the community at large to assist those in great physical or spiritual need. Funding is focused on the areas of greatest need — food, medical services, shelter, and education — for the people of greatest need, delivered by the most effective means.
As an integral part of its outreach mission to the local and diocesan community, St. James Episcopal Church annually awards small grants to Baton Rouge area and diocesan charitable organizations. It is expected that this funding will partially or fully fund a small programmatic effort for these organizations.

Grants typically range from $1,000 - $5,000 and will cover specific programmatic expenses such as supplies, small equipment, programmatic wages, printing, and similar expenses. We do not fund administrative overhead or fund-raising expenses.
We anticipate that funding decisions will be made in August and that funds will be available by check to grantees in September for the grant year beginning October 2018 and ending September 2019.
Successful grantees must submit a stewardship report describing how the funds were spent, how many people were reached, and any other appropriate measures of success six months after program completion but no later than March 31, 2019. If the funded activity is still in progress at that point, an interim report must be completed in order to be considered for next year’s funding, with the final report to follow six months after the activity’s completion.
