Sunday, September 12th marked the official start of program year with fellowship, learning and growth opportunities for the whole family to enjoy. Thank you to everyone who joined us!
Adult Forum returned with One Parish, One Book, a weekly parish-wide book study of Rowan Williams’ Being Disciples: Essentials of the Christian Life. In addition, a small-group also gathered over fellowship and reflection at The Vintage for our new formation opportunity, Coffee & Conversation, a discussion-based lectionary study led by Bobbi Crouch, Ben and Katherine Dampf, and Carlos and Julia Spaht.
Of course, we couldn’t forget about the kiddos. Sunday School was back in action with funny songs, sweet treats and warm fuzzies. Our nursery visitors also enjoyed becoming “gold” fishers of men, and Children’s Church continued to connect the dots between God’s word and children’s world.
Rounding out the morning, the combined St. James and St. Cecilia Choirs officially kicked off the 2021-2022 choral season with music fit for a feast day during the 10:30am service. Including Parry’s immortal “I was glad,” which has been sung at every English coronation since 1902 and organ voluntaries comprised of the rousing “Fanfare” of Percy Whitlock and the colorful “Epilogue” of Herbert Howells. Following the 10:30am service, the Choirs hosted a special coffee hour in Coleman Hall as we celebrated the new program year together.
