St. James is partnering with The Walls Project in Baton Rouge for a meaningful, hands-on day of service. Check-in at the MLK Community Center (400 Gus Young Avenue) under the “St. James” group and receive a wrist band before proceeding to your project. Signed waivers are required and can be signed by clicking the button below. It is also suggested to bring a snack and your own water bottle.

There are opportunities for all ages and abilities!

 

Living Galley Painting | 10:30-11:45 a.m. | Ages 10 and Younger

The gallery is intended for our youngest volunteers (ages 10 and younger) who will paint recycled yard signs to be used throughout the community garden and neighborhood. No experience needed, just help to make a colorful impact.

Mural Court Painting | 10:15-11:45 a.m. | Adults ages 18+

Adults (ages 18+) are invited to participate in the creation of a community art work on ground-level surfaces such as basketball courts and breezeway walking surfaces (no ladders or wall work).

Blight and Litter Removal | 9-10:30 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. | Open to all Ages

Open to all ages, activities include: trash pickup, dump site clearing, curb beautification, and tool handling. Bring work gloves! Some supplies will be available on-site. You are also welcome to bring trash grabbers, garden tools, and contractor trash bags.
